Badminton ASSOCIATION
Sponsored by T Duncan & Co, Solicitors and Estate Agents, Montrose, Dundee Area Badminton Association promotes the sport of badminton in Dundee and the surrounding areas.
Affiliated to Badminton Scotland, DABA developed from the former Dundee Churches League and includes clubs in Angus and North East Fife. There are presently twelve member clubs that play in the various leagues that DABA run as well as other social badminton clubs in the area.
DABA currently runs the undernoted senior and junior leagues:
- Mixed Doubles Leagues (compromising 10 teams in 2 Divisions) – fixtures are played home and away throughout the season.
- Gents Doubles Leagues (compromising 20 teams in 4 Divisions) – fixtures are played at David Lloyd Sports Centre on various Sunday afternoons throughout the season.
- Ladies Doubles League (compromising 8 teams in 2 Divisions) – fixtures are played at David Lloyd Sports Centre on various Sunday afternoons throughout the season.
- Ladder events (3 per season)
- DABA Bronze Tournament (1 per season)
- Handicap Cup
- Junior Ladder events (2 or 3 per season)

Scotstrings
2018-19 Sponsor Scotstrings are a full-time restringing company based in Kirkcaldy whose philosophy is to offer a fast, reliable and highly professional restringing service with minimal fuss. We recommend that DABA players use Scotstrings for any restrings they require. As the company is based in Kirkcaldy, a racket drop-off/collection point has been set up at the Lynch Centre on South Road in Dundee to make the transport of rackets easier. Scotstrings will collect rackets and drop off strung rackets on Wednesday afternoons. There will be a box at the main reception of the Lynch for rackets to be left in, alongside a form detailing who the racket belongs to and what tension etc is required. We hope the players in the area will benefit from this new stringing service and look forward to building our relationship with Scotstrings.
Miller Hendry
2018-19 Sponsor Miller Hendry is a long established legal practice, which has served individuals and businesses in the Tayside and Strathearn area for generations. The firm has grown to be one of the largest legal practices in our area, focusing on assisting client’s needs and providing a great personal service. As part of the partnership between Miller Hendry and DABA, the main DABA leagues will be re-branded to Miller Hendry Division 1, Miller Hendry Division 2 and Miller Hendry Division 3. In addition the new 4person leagues will be re-branded Miller Hendry Ladies league and Miller Hendry Gents league. There will also be Miller Hendry presence at DABA ladders throughout the season. The DABA committee would like to thank Miller Hendry for their support and we look forward to working together moving forward.
Badminton Scotland is the national body responsible for promoting and encouraging the growth and development of the sport within Scotland, fostering strong links with volunteer groups and many 3rd sector organisations, developing programmes to pool resources and achieve common goals. Badminton is unique in terms of accessibility, appealing to all ages and all groups and communities in Scotland.
